Kew Village Market Stall

On Sunday 7th July we’ll be again selling  Kew Village Market – Taste the Music, a brilliant compilation CD of 12 great tracks from favourite bands who’ve starred in our sunshine-yellow music marquee. The perfect thank-you gift, it costs just £6 and, as everyone involved has given their time and talents for free, all the profits go to local charities. We’ll also have the Kew Village Market Cookbook and the excellent digest of local history The Story of Kew and stylish KVM tote bags.

  • This month’s charity stall will be the Countess of Derby charity, and the live bands in our sunshine yellow music marquee will feature salsa/latin/jazz fusions from Banda Bomba and superb solos from Stefanos Tsourelis, maestro of the guitar and oud.. Enjoy!

MEAT & FISH

Hunts Hill Farm

At John and Georgina Emerson’s farm in Normandy, near Guildford, the beef is grass-fed and allowed to graze all year round; their chicken and ducks are all free-range and dry-plucked; and the free-range pork is mostly from saddlebacks. They’ll also be bringing a variety of different flavoured sausages and free-range duck and hen eggs to the market and cooking hot bacon, sausage and pulled pork rolls. www.huntshillfarm.com

The Portland Scallop Co

Jamie Walker is based near Chesil Beach and most of the fish he sells at Sunday’s market will have been caught on the Dorset or Devon coast on Friday. What he sells depends on what the boats bring in, so his stall will have what’s in season from a range including bass, bream, monkfish, lemon sole, mullet, plaice, turbot, brill, lemon or dover sole, oysters and lobster, as well as rope-grown mussels and dived scallops. He’s also likely to bring whole cooked crab, home-made crab soup and fishcakes. Most of his fish will already be gutted and scaled, but any other preparation can be done at the market.

They set up their juice business in 1990, using fruit from their orchards after a violent hailstorm marked the crop, and their use of traditional pressing methods and slow pasteurisation preserves the real flavour of the fruit. And thanks to popular demand, they’ll also be selling their scrumptious apples and pears plus cordials and jams.

I live in Kew and have been a chef for over 25 years. Hunts Hill Farm

At John and Georgina Emerson’s farm in Normandy, near Guildford, the beef is grass-fed and allowed to graze all year round; their chicken and ducks are all free-range and dry-plucked; and the free-range pork is mostly from saddlebacks. They’ll also be bringing a variety of different flavoured sausages and free-range duck and hen eggs to the market and cooking hot bacon, sausage and pulled pork rolls.

Ringden Farm

Chris and Lesley Dench will again be bringing their award-winning apple and pear juices to Kew this month. They set up their juice business in 1990, using fruit from their orchards after a violent hailstorm marked the crop, and their use of traditional pressing methods and slow pasteurisation preserves the real flavour of the fruit. And thanks to popular demand, they’ll also be selling their scrumptious apples and pears plus cordials and jams.

Igor Occhiali makes home-baked artisan breads, using a long fermentation process and organic flours, and shaping his cottage loaves, bloomers, ciabatta and focaccia by hand. The Portland Scallop Co

Jamie Walker is based near Chesil Beach and most of the fish he sells at Sunday’s market will have been caught on the Dorset or Devon coast on Friday. What he sells depends on what the boats bring in, so his stall will have what’s in season from a range including bass, bream, monkfish, lemon sole, mullet, plaice, turbot, brill, lemon or dover sole, oysters and lobster, as well as rope-grown mussels and dived scallops. He’s also likely to bring whole cooked crab, home-made crab soup and fishcakes. Most of his fish will already be gutted and scaled, but any other preparation can be done at the market.

Olive lovers will be spoiled for choice – 23 different types of stuffed and marinated olives! You’ll also find feta cheese, feta-stuffed red and pipeline peppers, sun-blushed and sun-dried tomatoes, artichokes, stuffed vine leaves, tapenade, humus, butter bean salad, boquerones, green and red pesto, harissa and marinated garlic.

Wild Country Organics

We’re delighted that the winner of the Fresh Produce Category of the prestigious Soil Food Association Awards has become a regular at the market. The farm has been organic since 1988 and specialises in producing a wide variety of summer and winter vegetables, herbs and salad leaves.
